I’m 25 years old going on 6 or 40 depending on the day.  Let’s make a long story short; Detroit -> Belgium -> Japan -> Hong Kong -> New York City -> Baltimore -> Omaha -> Las Vegas.  I adore the sparse beauty of the desert but few things make me happier than our rare cloudy, rainy days.  I live in an adorable little house with my fiance (Jesse — getting married 07/31/2010), our kitten (Isobel) and our Very Serious Dog (Sebastian). I make bento and a lot of my own clothes.  Ideal careers include actress, personal assistant, writer, chef, sommelier, director, model, life coach, fashion or interior designer, literary critic and travel writer.  Really, I’d just like to be independently wealthy.  A girl’s got to have dreams (funded by a day job at an insurance company)!

I’m a girl on a journey to explore and contemplate everything in the world. I write and paint and design and sketch and photograph and sculpt and dance and sing and act and cook and bake and sew and knit and decorate and make lists and learn and create because I find a single medium wholly inadequate.

Books; I read voraciously.  Any list of books and authors would be completely unrepresentative of my habits.  Let’s just say that right now I’m trying to work my way through the Great Books list, mostly focusing on philosphy, politics, religion and science, occasionally interruped with some fun fiction.

Fashion; Skinny and straight-leg jeans, tailored cuffed shorts, little shift dresses, oversized things that I can hide in (t-shirts, bags, hair and sunglasses), tunics, chunky bracelets, long and too many necklaces entertwined, cocktail rings, next-to-no-makeup, shrunken cardigans, tousled wavy hair, flats and All-Stars.  Maybe just shoes in general.

Interests; Running, yoga, ballet, road trips, heifer international, hiking, reading, refinishing furniture, sewing, writing, knitting, fashion design, history, painting, sketching, doctors without borders, listening to music, playing the guitar, acting, gay rights, pilates, cooking, cuddling, learning languages, travelling, photography, gardening, baking, making money, playing the piano, swimming, fostering kitties, habitat for humanity, volunteering, organizing things, modeling, dancing, poetry, mythology, gallery-hopping, drinking wine, film, being absolutely fabulous.

Movies; I’m attempting to work my way through the Criterion Collection currently.  But these are movies I’ve enjoyed recently: Where the Wild Things Are, Once, Lives of Others, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada, I’m Not There, The Third Man, Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead, The 39 Steps, The Squid and the Whale, Darjeeling Limited, No Country for Old Men, Fitzcarraldo, The Savages, There Will Be Blood, Waking Ned Devine and Fiddler on the Roof.

Music; Xiu Xiu, Silje Nes, Mew, Guillemots, Isobell Campbell, M.I.A., Fog, Sage Francis, Islands, Bob Dylan, The Frames, Mark Lanegan, Ojos de Brujo, The Sea and Cake, Half Japanese, Beethoven, The Feelies, The Decemberists, Rachmaninoff, Mason Jennings, Ella Fitzgerald, The Boy Least Likely To, Philip Glass, Camera Obscura, Architecture in Helsinki, Seabear, Bon Iver, Sambassadeur, British Sea Power, De Capulet, The Fiery Furnaces, Calexico, Arcade Fire, Massive Attack, Belle & Sebastian, Animal Collective, Thea Gilmore, P:ano, CSS, Anna Karina, Let’s Go Sailing, The Lucksmiths, Chalets, Alaska in Winter, Girl Talk, Tullycraft, Dirty Pretty Things, All Girl Summer Fun Band, Damien Rice, Chick Corea, Margot & the Nuclear So and So’s, Debussy, Ray LaMontagne, Devendra Banhart, Tchaikovsky, Miles Davis, Dj Shadow, Colleen, The Mountain Goats, Port Blue, Band of Horses, Sparrow House, Elf Power, The Gris Gris, Editors, Larrikin Love, Sea Wolf, Husky Rescue, Graham Coxon, Serge Gainsbourg, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Liszt, Marketa Irglova, Deerhoof, Glen Hansard, Liam Finn, Spoon, Edith Piaf, Atlas Soun, Gogol Bordello, Devotchka, Lullatone, Bunny Rabbit, Kate Havnevik, Christians & Lions, Macromantics, Fleet Foxes, Antsy Pants, The Bird and the Bee, Cherry Ghost and Mozart have been getting a lot of rotation on my iPod lately.  I do, however, have over 2500 albums of all different genres so this list is sorely lacking.

One day, I want to be able to say that I’ve travelled and explored the whole world.
