Not only did I NOT make Jesse a steak to make up for forgetting our anniversary, I managed to get the better end of the deal when it came to presents as well (although that may be changing for him).  Hi, brand-new Anthropologie coat in a gorgeous navy wool that lightly flares out from the hips and comes to rest at my cheekbones in a gorgeous funnel-neck (whew, thank god it was on sale)!  I know, I know, I live in the desert… but I’ve become that awful person who thinks it’s COLD when it’s actually 60 degrees out.  I’m a hopeless lizard-girl; I perch on black rocks hoping to soak up any residual warmth and change into warm hoodies the moment I get home from work.  I’ve been running in my Under Armour tights and a hoodie for the last week!  I did buy myself a little something too (of course) — a beautiful 3/4 sleeve, cropped wool jacket in a gorgeous light, clear blue.  It matches the chairs, oddly enough.  I didn’t need it (obviously) but it was an amazing sale at $40 from almost $250.  I also picked up a few pieces of sale jewelry for Crystal who is getting her present from me tomorrow.

This weekend was really nice.  I took Jesse out to P.F. Changs on Friday night and he took me out for Indian on Saturday night.  The Indian place just opened recently and serving-wise still needs a LOT of work but the food was unbelievably good.  Jesse ordered chicken vindaloo and received lamb vindaloo (one of the mistakes but he seemed to enjoy it anyway) and I got channa masala.  We both had cups of dahl, wonderfully spiced and creamy.  I really need to cook Indian more often.  Either way, this is just to show that he spoils me and I LOVE IT.  I’m not going to sit here and deny it — I absolutely adore it.  The coat, dinner out, the amazing ring… unbelievable.  Yes, this is me bragging but I was extremely lucky to end up with him.

On Sunday we set to work sanding down the table with my latest acquisition… the power sander!  Seriously, it made the whole job much easier.  We’re starting to toss around paint colour ideas and are thinking of a blue in the same family as the chairs but a few steps darker.  I still like the idea of yellow but I think the blue will be a lot easier to work with and I’ll still be able to do some handpainting on the floral details.

More than anything, I’ve been trying to write and do some art.  For the first time in months, I cast on for a new knitting project.  I’m just working on the Irish Hiking Scarf in a super-bulky olive yarn on larger needles, but it’s nice to be doing something again and I do love knitting cables.  I’m also trying to actually sketch out my inspiration for the wedding — we’ll see if my lack of artistic talent gets in the way too much!
